Mt Ninderry

The original Aboriginal people of the Yandina area belonged to the Gubbi Gubbi language group which consisted of a number  of tribes including the Nalbo, Kabi, Dallambara and Undanbi.

The landforms of the district are featured in an Aboriginal myth.

Ninderry and Coolum were warriors who fought over the beautiful Maroochy. Ninderry knocked Coolum's head off and it rolled into the sea to become Mudjimba. The Creator, known to the Undanbi as Birral, punished Ninderry by turning his body into a huge stone. Maroochy fled to the mountains where her tears became the Maroochy River.
